| Weird night for Goth |

Yesterday was a strange day for Goths across UK and Birmingham.
First off was The Culture Show and its representation of Whitby was interesting and I managed to spot Debbie and Phil amongst the crowds as well as Pauls spot to the presenter. It's a very different affair from the times I went but looked no less fun.
Secondly Birmingham's long standing Goth/Rock club Edwards No.8 burnt down. Luckily nobody was hurt but it was serious enough to make headline news nationally. Edwards was a poor venue with soggy carpets, unhygienic toilets, dodgy doorstaff and second rate equipment yet it entertained many a folk on many nights. My time was between 1988 and 1997 where the DJ roster changed little and it was often overcrowded. Since then I have been back several times but it has never lived up to those early ventures
It is sad for a few reasons, not least it being the only regular venue where goths can happily pop along each Friday and Saturday and guarantee at least 5-6 tunes to dance to if not more.
There is much speculation over what happens now but I will be very surprised if "Luxury 1 & 2 Bedroom Apartments" doesn't feature in the future.
This does however leave a nice opening for something new and this can only prove exciting. |

wow I am out of the country do didnt know about that... it is a bit sad. It was the only place I ever used to go in Brum. Fingers crossed something new will pop up other wise thats leaves pretty much nothing for brum goths.
